Garden of Unearthly Delights 2012

Event Systems was contracted by Edinburgh based ticketing provider RED61 to provide on site support and infrastructure for the Garden of Unearthly Delights during Adelaide Fringe. The job involved provisioning one main box office and two smaller satellite box offices at other locations on the site. The Gardens purchased new Dell PC’s and server to run RED61’s VIA ticketing software.

RED61 supplied its proven Redgate routers to connect the entire site back to base in Edinburgh and to provide fail over to ADSL from each box-office in the event of network failure. Event Systems installed the hardware following instructions from the RED 61 engineers in Edinburgh. Primary connectivity between box offices was provided by custom Point to Point wireless links manufactured by Event Systems. Secondary connectivity was provided by RED61’s TAHOE G.SHDSL bridges which provided 4mbps links speeds over Cat5 cable run between each location. Despite concerns of poor line of site, the Event Systems bridges performed well. Providing 20mbps link speeds consistently through the entire project. Latency was also superior when compared to the other connection options.

In the event of wireless failure the network automatically switched over to the Tahoe links and then if that failed over to ADSL back to the main box office. The entire network was monitored from Edinburgh 24/7 and failures were relayed to on site staff. Event Systems also monitored the installed infrastructure from Melbourne, providing support in the event that on site staff were unable to resolve any issues.
